hovers some distance away, walking when she walks. so not the normal thing after all. it's fine these are just predator-adjacent vibes,]

I've never met a wolf spirit as small as you before.

The better to eat you with, if you get too close. I'm small, but my appetite isn't, and my grandma taught me not to mess around with strangers.

What are you, exactly? You don't look like a monster, but sometimes that's the worst kind.

[it is very normal to sniff. he will even sniff back. he won't actually pick up on a lot since he doesn't have a wolfy nose, but still. rang smells like a regular dude who hasn't had a shower in a day (gross), though there's also a faint tang of blood? fairly old.]

Wow, [ylfa is right] maybe it's just a survival instinct? If I put my tails away, then I won't get humans running after me with their big hatchets just for looking different.

I'm the 'only a monster when I have to be' type, you know?

I wouldn't worry so much about the hatchets. In my experience, the woodsman isn't very reliable.

[anyway, she's carrying his hatchet on her back.]

I guess that makes sense. Sort of a shapeshifter. I have to get close before I notice what big teeth you have.

And you're smart enough not to get too close, right? At least, not without hitting me with that axe first.

I wouldn't say I'm that smart. Also, I'm not sure you're as tough as you're implying.

I'm a gumiho. Nine-tailed fox. There aren't many of us anymore. and we mostly stick to the same place, so I wouldn't be surprised if you've never heard of us.

There is one story about us that some people know... But only some. It's not popular compared to the classics.

[since ylfa has the red riding hood vibes, though he does not remember red riding hood being both the wolf and carrying the woodsman' axe.]
