...I see. In a way, it's almost as if the full reality of the Reaper's Game didn't truly hit you until it became personal. Hikari and Yang Guifei were different because you didn't have that deeper relationship with either of them. But with Rin... he was more than another Player. He was your friend.
The truth is, I'm pretty used to being in bad and dangerous situations all the time. So I knew we were in one, but it felt like maybe it hadn't hit them yet. And I felt like I could protect them from it.
